Gaming and entertainment on hold
The weather hasn’t been kind to casino-goers in the USA, especially in the Gulf of Mexico. Recently, Hurricane Francine passed through many states, leading operators to temporarily close their doors. Passing through Louisiana, the hurricane was accompanied by winds of up to 160 km/h before making landfall in Mississippi. As a result, the Silver Slipper Casino Hotel facilities halted services to protect staff and customers. On Wednesday, September 11, the property confirmed that its offerings are currently unavailable. The list includes table games, valet parking, the gift store and the Jubilee Buffet. However, normal operations resumed the following day, Thursday, September 12. Nevertheless, the casino has stated that all steps are based on the evolution of the situation, with measures to be taken in the event of any changes.
In addition to Silver Slipper Casino, Coushatta Casino Resort in neighboring Mississippi also posted closed doors. The resort certified this temporary closure on Wednesday, September 11 from 2am. In a press release, management stated that the entire team was looking forward to seeing customers again, and thanked them for their patience. The opening took place at 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 12.
According to information from CNN, New Orleans was also in the crosshairs of Hurricane Francine leading to flooding. Weather forecasts warned of tornado threats in Mobile, Birmingham, Montgomery and Huntsville in Alabama, Tallahassee in Florida and Tupelo in Mississippi.
